Restoring a classic piece of furniture doesn't have to be difficult or expensive. In her tutorial, Craft Habit's Meagan French shows us how to breathe new life into an old coffee table using a can of high-gloss spray paint.
For this project, you’ll need:
- Paper towels
- Wood filler
- Putty knife or plastic knife
- Spray primer
- Spray paint in the color of your choice
- High-gloss clear enamel
Lightly sand the entire piece. When finished, wipe down the dust thoroughly with a damp paper towel.
Fill in any nicks or gashes with wood filler and a putty knife. Let dry according to the instructions on the tube (at least 20 minutes). Sand down any excess filler after it's dry.
Spray two coats of spray primer. Let primer dry for 15 minutes and sand lightly between coats.
Spray three coats of spray paint in the color of your choice, letting it dry for 20 minutes and sanding lightly between coats.
Spray at least four coats of clear gloss enamel, waiting 15 minutes between coats. Let dry overnight and you're done!
