Kevin Bacon spends his impressive career largely on the big screen, but tonight, the former "Footloose" actor is headed to television.

Bacon's latest project, "The Following," debuts at 9 p.m. EST on FOX, and stars the actor as an FBI agent tasked with tracking down a serial killer. Though the show hasn't yet hit the airwaves, it's already generating some solid buzz thanks to a thrilling storyline developed by veteran writer Kevin Williamson ("Scream") and, of course, the A-lister stepping into the lead role.

Tonight's TV debut, though, is just another entry in Bacon's outstanding resume. From his humble beginnings (i.e., getting spanked in 1978's "Animal House") to his award-winning dramatic roles (e.g., "Taking Chance," "Apollo 13," and "Mystic River") Bacon's star has been shining bright for the better part of 30 years.
