Lone Star State Justice: Celebs Who Got Busted in Texas

Lone Star State Justice: Celebs Who Got Busted in Texas

AP

We'd be willing to bet Fiona Apple is "feeling like a criminal" right now. The popular singer/songwriter is sitting in a Texas jailhouse following an arrest on Wednesday night.

According to TMZ, Apple was found to be in possession of hashish along with a small amount of marijuana. Authorities discovered the drugs while searching her tour bus at a border stop in the town of Sierra Blanca. The 35-year-old songstress is now being held at a Hudspeth County jail.

But this isn't the first time a celebrity has felt the firm hand of justice in Texas. Plenty of celebs have been arrested in the state — Willie Nelson, Armie Hammer and Snoop Dogg were arrested for drug possession in the very same town as Apple. It just seems that even the rich and famous can't catch a break in the Lone Star State:

Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg — or Snoop Lion, as he's now known — was cited for possession of marijuana at the very same Sierra Blanca checkpoint as Apple in January of 2012. According to the Hudspeth County sheriff's office, Snoop "freely admitted" to his crimes after authorities found three containers of marijuana on his tour bus. The rapper was then given a court date and released from custody.

Randy Travis

Six months after being arrested for public intoxication in Sanger, Texas, country singer Randy Travis was in trouble with the law in Grayson County. Police found Travis lying naked in the street and reeking of booze, and eventually deduced that he had crashed his car while intoxicated.

Armie Hammer

Armie Hammer, who starred in such films as "The Social Network" and "J.Edgar," made the mistake of driving through Sierra Blanca with marijuana in January, 2012. Drug-sniffing dogs found 0.02 ounces of the drug in his car, along with three medicinal marijuana cookies and one medicinal marijuana brownie.

Willie Nelson

It probably comes as no surprise that country singer (and marijuana legalization supporter) Willie Nelson was busted for possession in November of 2010. Authorities found the drugs after searching his tour bus at a border checkpoint located in — where else? — Sierra Blanca. Nelson posted bail and was released the same day. "He said he feels great — he lost six ounces," joked Nelson's harmonica player about the ordeal.

Chace Crawford

In June of 2010, "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford was arrested for possession of marijuana in Plano, Texas. The actor was sitting in his parked car with a friend when cops found a joint in the vehicle.

Matthew McConaughey

In October of 1999, Austin police were responding to a noise complaint at McConaughey's house when they found him naked and playing the bongos. The actor was also found to be in possession of marijuana, and was transported — partially-clothed — to a nearby police station.
