PHOTOS: Sporty and Sophisticated Kate Middleton
In her first public appearance since being hospitalized for acute morning sickness, Kate Middleton presented two awards at last night's BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony in London.
The Duchess, who was often seen cheering in the stands at the 2012 Olympic Games, took the stage to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Sebastian Coe, the chairman of the London Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games. Later, she handed the award for Sports Personality of the Year to cyclist Bradley Wiggins (above, center).
Doctors, however, have warned Kate that her severe bouts with morning sickness can return any time, so Middleton only stayed at the ceremony for approximately 45 minutes to show her support and mingle with other notable presenters such as soccer star David Beckham. As a royal senior source explained, "While the Duchess does not feel ready to attend a four-hour engagement, she is keen to show her support to the UK’s sportsmen and women at this prestigious event which caps a momentous year for British sport."
And as Kate seems to prove in the photos below, she's a bit of a "British sport" herself. Have a look at the Duchess engaging in her favorite athletic pursuits:
