The 4 Most Shocking Sex Scandals in Olympic History

The least well-kept secret in Olympic history is pretty much what a sex-fest the Olympic village turns into after the athletes complete their events. Naturally, scandals abound. So, as the 2014 Olympics rages on, we'd like to take a moment to look back at the top four most shocking sex scandals to plague the Olympics.

#4. The photo seen round the world: When Lindsey Vonn posed for Sports Illustrated, she doubtless thought it was just your average ski-themed photo shoot. Wearing a black and pink skin-tight suit, her boots and her skis, Vonn assumed the usual position for her sport … which just happened to put her rear end on prominent display. The cover caused an uproar right before the 2010 Vancouver Games, with people calling the photo too sexy for a respected athlete. The fact that she was photographed in the regular skiers' crouch that she assumes when she is practicing her sport was largely ignored.

#3. A not so innocent kiss: During the 2010 Winter Olympics, snowboarder Scotty Lago won the bronze on February 17th. On February 19th, scandalous photos of Lago appeared online. In the pictures, Lago wore the medal around his waist while a girl kneeled before him, kissing and biting the medal. Lago volunteer to leave the Games before the IOC could tell him to, and returned home the day after the pictures were taken. He tweeted out the message, "Got home this morning to all my homies. Such a good Olympic experience. Keeping my medal in a safe spot for now haha."

#2. The accidental brothel: When American target shooter Josh Lakatos and his team were asked to vacate their Olympic village housing following the completion of their events in 2000, he wasn't ready to give up. He knew a massive party was about to kick off in the village, and he didn't want to miss a minute of it. Instead, he and some teammates snuck back into a house, provided a duffel bag full of condoms, and got busy. Men and women from around the world passed through. After about a week, Lakatos had a revelation: "I'm running a friggin' brothel in the Olympic Village! I've never witnessed so much debauchery in my entire life."

#1. The real deal: When New Zealand taekwondo practitioner Logan Campbell first went to the Olympics in 2008, it cost him and his parents $150,000. To avoid hitting his family up for money in order to compete in the 2012 London Games (which he estimated to cost $300,000), Campbell got creative: He opened a brothel. Prostitution in an officially registered brothel is legal in New Zealand, but his actions caused a stir nonetheless. All this was for naught, as Campbell was knocked out in his first fight at the 2012 Games.
