It’s difficult to say no to any burger, but if it’s wonderfully juicy, messy, and straight up beefy, we’ll happily grab all the paper towels we can find and stuff our faces with pride.

But a boozy burger? Now that’s a game-changer.

Actress Ali Larter has become well-known for hosting popular dinner parties in Los Angeles, Her events have became so legendary, that she was prompted to release an official companion cookbook called “Kitchen Revelry,” which breaks down many of her favorite mouthwatering recipes and inspiring party ideas.

But anyone who picks up a copy and breezes past her recipe for the ultimate bacon whiskey burger is seriously crazy.

Featuring a hearty, melt-in-your-mouth patty made of succulent sirloin and ground chuck, the burger is also prepared with a touch of whiskey — making it all the more sinfully scrumptious. And if that's not enough, there’s sharp cheddar cheese, a not-so-secret sauce, and yes, bacon …lots of it.

Ali Larter’s Ultimate Bacon Whiskey Burger

Secret Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup finely chopped dill pickle
  • ¼ cup finely chopped pepperoncini

Burgers (Makes 4)

  • 8 oz. ground sirloin
  • 8 oz. ground (20 percent fat) chuck
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 8 thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon slices
  • 1 Tbsp. whiskey
  • Four ½-inch-thick slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 soft white hamburger buns
  • Butter

Secret Sauce

  1. Whisk all the sauce ingredients in a bowl to blend. Cover and refrigerate. (The sauce can be made 3 days ahead, but keep refrigerated.)

  1. Gently mix the ground sirloin, chuck, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Form the mixture into four even patties.
  2. Arrange the bacon slices side by side in a heavy skillet. Pour the whiskey over the bacon. Cook over medium heat until the bacon is browned and crisp. Remove from pan and cover bacon to keep warm. Pour out excess grease.
  3. Add the meat patties to the skillet with the bacon drippings. Cook patties for 2 minutes over medium-high heat (do not press down on patties with a spatula). Turn patties over and place two bacon slices, then one slice cheese, atop each patty. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook the patties until the cheese is melted and the meat is cook to desired doneness (about 2 minutes longer for medium-rare).
  4. Meanwhile, butter the cut sides of the hamburger buns and place in a toaster until just warmed through but still soft. Top each with one patty. Spoon secret sauce generously over each patty and cover with the top halves of the buns and serve.
